Grade 3-6:
Numeracy
After finishing up our Maths Talent Quest projects the students were enthused to jump back into the normal routine. We've begun investigating Multiplication and Division and how they are related to each other. This will lead us into exploring Area and other real life scenarios where our use of multiplication and division can be used in everyday contexts.
Inquisitive Minds Year 3-4
The past two weeks we've continued our focus on the Olympics. We've used our computer skills to learn Microsoft Excel and create graphs of the top 10 in the medal count, learning lots of neat shortcuts and skills along the way.
Our second task has been reviewing some of the amazing and inspiring Australian athletes and their performances from Paris. The students were tasked with creating a script and slides for a news report on an Australian athlete. We had lots of laugh but some really well thought out questions as well, the students can be proud of their efforts.
Reading/Writing:
Both the Grade 4/5A classroom and 5/6A classroom have begun studying the book ‘Wonder’ which is written by Raquel Jaramillo Palacio. This is the mentor text for both these classes until the end of Term 3. Students have been quite excited to start reading this book and it has been great to see so much enthusiasm from the students already. These two classes are looking forward to completing a variety of different activities for this novel and involve themselves in some great discussions.
-Be sure to ask your child about what they think of the book 'Wonder', they are slowly going to become experts of this book.
Book Week Celebrations:
All Grade 3-6 Students have had an amazing week celebrating Book Week and have really enjoyed working with students from other grades when designing and creating their activities. It was also really nice having the junior students come up to the senior module on The Book Week Bonanza Day and bring so much positivity to the classroom.
Overall all the students in the Senior Module have had an exciting two weeks and they have really been enjoying the learning that has been going on. There is still more exciting weeks to come for Term 3 and so many more fun activities being planned. We are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication our students bring to school every day and remind these students to always try their best and look out for their teachers and classmates.
Lunch Time Clubs:
