Literacy
As the Olympic Games wrapped up, student have completed writing a number of information reports, including reports on famous Australian athletes and Olympic sports. During Book Week, students analysed the short listed books for 2024 to find out what makes these books so engaging and enjoyable for young readers across the country.
Numeracy
Our recent unit on Fractions, Decimals and Percentages was completed at the end of Week 5. To complete our unit, students modelled their knowledge through detailed diagrams that showed their understanding of how to calculate the fraction from a worded problem. Students also represented their fraction as decimals and percentages whilst explaining their reasoning on how they represented their fraction.
Science/ STEM Excursion
A recent trip to Surf Coast College for our Year Five students where we spent the day in a Physics Class, Biology Class and a Chemistry class. Students were hands on in each class learning about the process of breaking down food, the mechanics used in catapults as well as all things fire, gas and oxygen.
Author Study with Andy Griffiths
Recently, we joined in an online launch with Andy Griffith's newest series, Adventures Unlimited: The Land of Lost Things! Andy shared secrets about the new series and introduced some of the stellar characters Johnny Knucklehead and Pookie.
