Soccer ball draw
Congratulations to our two soccer ball prize draw winners, Prince and Finn! Every lunchtime students earn green gards for displaying exceptional sportsmanship. These are placed in a random prize draw at the end of each term for the chance to win a soccer ball. Both Prince and Finn had earned a large number of green cards, giving them a great chance to win.
Kindergarten transition
Kindergarten transition is now complete for our 2025 arrivals. They they have visited our school over 5 days, including one open day and four visits with Ms Mac in the Kindy classroom. During their visits they participated in many fun activities, with the favourite being a bear hunt, where they travelled around the school looking for elusive bears.
Our final parent session is from 4-5.30pm on 24 October 2024 in the school hall . This session is an informative afternoon where we will take you through the various school routines and services available to families. An afternoon tea will be provided which is a great opportunity to mingle with other parents and make some new school friends.
It is never too late to enrol at TPS and sign up for the best education money can't buy. So if you have new neighbours or family moving into the area, please ask them to drop by the office to collect an enrolment form and organise a tour with our principal, Mr Hopkins.
Year 5 Aspiring Leaders
Week 2 of term 4 is Children's Week, which focusses attention on children, their rights and achievements. Children's Week also celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. We will be taking our aspiring leaders in year 5 to the Bellambi Neighbourhood Centre for a Youth Forum with students from other local schools. This will include art activities with Uncle Kevin Butler and lunch with Corrimal High School students where they can ask questions about being a teenager.
On the Friday, we return to the centre for a free party day, which includes jumping castles, a sausage sizzle, fairy floss, face painting and live music from Corrimal High School students. A note will be sent out through School Bytes today.
Therapy dog in term 4
On Mondays in term 4, we welcome Quinnie the therapy dog to Tarrawanna PS to work with our students for an hour. Quinnie is a beautiful and very calm labrador who enjoys listening to students read and being patted. She will be accompanied by her owner and PAWS Pet Therapy volunteer, Ursula.
This initiative was the idea of students in 3/4C and we will begin with Quinnie visits to 3/4C and 4/5B for term 4. We plan to rotate to two different classes each term
Stage 3 Camp
Our Stage 3 Camp for 2025 has been booked and will take place on 10-12 March, during week 7 of term 1. Like this year, we have arranged camp for the beginning of the year to help students build friendships and leadership skills early on. We will be travelling to The Great Aussie Bush Camp in Kincumber for a range of fun indoor and outdoor activities, including the giant swing!
A permission note will be sent out to families of students in years 4 and 5 today so they can sign up for camp early with a $50 deposit. Parents are welcome to pay in installments throughout term 4 and into next year, so long as final payments are made by Friday 7 March.
Financial assistance is available for those who require it, so please reach out to us.
Planned works
