Kinder visit & Pyjamas dress up
Earlier this week, our students, dressed in their Pyjamas and made a special visit to Inglewood Kindergarten to celebrate Book Week. They participated in a range of activities, including reading stories to the younger children. The visit was a wonderful opportunity for our students to share their favourite books and enjoy a fun, engaging time together.
Book week
Dressing up
Throughout the week, our students have enjoyed dressing up as various book characters during our break-times. It's been wonderful to see the joy, excitement and creativity they bring to their roles.
Backyard Magic Wand
Yesterday our students unleashed their creativity by creating their own magical wands. This activity was inspired by Backyard Magic by Wendy Shurety, illustrated by Harriet Hobday. The enchanted story highlighted the importance of reducing screen time and more time enjoying the outdoors.
Webinar with Author Andy Griffiths
Earlier this morning, our students had the exciting opportunity to participate in a webinar hosted by Australian author Andy Griffiths. During this session, Andy launched his new book, “169-Storey Treehouse”. The students were inspired to use their creativity to come up with their own treehouse level.
We are lucky to have 2 copies of “169-Storey Treehouse” available at the Scholastic Book Fair in the Library, come get one before it’s too late!
St Mary's Primary School Potato Olympics
Last week, the students held our very own St Mary's Potato Olympics during our Inquiry Mathematics lesson with Mrs Bannan. Students were tasked with selecting and decorating a potato and entering their "Spudlete" into a series of measurement-based events to compete in the Potato Olympics. We all had a great time measuring how far our Spudletes could roll down the ramp in the sprint event, how long they could spin for in the break dancing event and measuring the volume of water that splashed into a bucket during the diving. Overall, Fin's Spudlete was the ultimate champion, winning 2/3 events. We had a lot of fun incorporating measurement into our Inquiry lessons and it was terrific to see so much laughter and encouragement in the students as they cheered one another on and assisted with roles such as timekeeping, record keeping, photography and measuring. Great work, everyone!
