It is that time of year again - it comes around so quickly! An email with a survey link has been sent home to each family. This survey is designed to assist our school in gaining an understanding of your perceptions, as parents, of your child’s experience at St. Mary’s. The feedback from this survey is very valuable in providing us with ways to improve our school. We really encourage as many families as possible to complete the survey, as we value your time and feedback. Please note that there is only one survey per family and individualised passwords are required for the survey.
In my last address, I spoke of the excitement and lead-up to St Mary's Trivia Night. This was a huge success and brought people together to enjoy themselves (you can check out the great singing on our Facebook page). I am happy to announce we received over $2,000 from the evening. We want to thank you all for your support and attendance. We especially thank our local sponsors who donated wonderful prizes. I want to acknowledge our dedicated staff for organising the evening along with the community helpers who set up our tables and chairs.
We are thrilled to announce a variety of wonderful celebrations taking place at St Mary's this term. These events are a fantastic opportunity for our school community to come together, create lasting memories, and celebrate the achievements and milestones of our students. Perhaps one of the most anticipated celebrations is the official opening of our new Nano Nagle Centre. Three years in the making, the opening will take place on September 4th, with the official blessing conducted by Bishop Shane Mackinlay and the unveiling of the plaque by Ms Martha Haylett MP. We invite former, current and future St Mary's community members to this event and ask that you RSVP to principal@sminglewood.catholic.edu.au to assist with seating and catering numbers.
With Book Week finishing up, Father's Day is just around the corner, and it's the perfect time to celebrate and acknowledge the invaluable contributions of positive role models in our lives. These individuals, whether they are fathers, stepfathers, uncles, grandfathers, or mentors, play a significant role in shaping our character, values, and future aspirations. To honour these influential individuals, we encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the positive male role models in your life. Consider their unique qualities and the impact they have had on your personal growth. In celebration of Father's Day, we will be organising a special event on Friday week. Beginning from 8:45 a.m., fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other role models are invited to join us for a bacon and egg breakfast. This will be followed by some parents V's student games with a 9:15 a.m. Liturgy. Let us come together as a school community to express our gratitude and appreciation for their support and love.
On a personal note, I feel incredibly blessed to be celebrating my second Father’s Day, especially with another little one on the way for the O'Shannessy family!
Kind Regards,
