Brisbane Isuzu Heavy Vehicle Apprenticeships - close 30 Aug

BNWTTC Special Program: Cert II Sampling & Measurement Workshop
Brisbane Northwest Trade Training College is offering the Cert II Sampling and Measurement as a workshop in Term 4. It will be a 4-day workshop format in Week 2 of Term 4, with one day induction in Week 7 of this term (TBA). See Expression of Interest Form here:
Year 12 students not sitting mock external exams in Weeks 8 and 9 must complete all mandatory assessments in both school subjects and vocational education before being released for apprenticeships, traineeships or work experience. Please collect a Release Form from the VET and Careers Office, have it signed by your teachers, and return it to Mrs Gooley for approval by Monday 19 August.

Career Insights: Guest Speakers Empower Students with Essential Skills
In Week 5, around 20 students attended the Engineering at UQ Lunchbox session, where they gained insights into entry requirements, course options and career pathways in Engineering at The University of Queensland. Earlier in the week, 15 students participated in the ADF Lunchbox, learning about opportunities and entry pathways in the Australian Defence Force. Both sessions provided valuable introductions to potential future careers. See above photo.
In Week 4, the Year 10 cohort was fortunate to have Ashlee Carrigan from Life After School as a guest speaker, who shared valuable insights on resume writing. Additionally, in the same week, the Year 12 students benefited from a session with Sally Dwyer from Be Social Be Smart, where she discussed the importance of LinkedIn and provided guidance on how to effectively present themselves on social media in today’s digital landscape. Interested in a Teaching Career? Apply for the Aspiring Teacher Grant!
Are you in Year 12 and thinking about a career in teaching? The Aspiring Teacher Grant offers financial support for high-achieving students who plan to study an undergraduate teaching degree in Queensland. This grant provides a lump sum to help with study expenses, making it easier to focus on your education.
To be eligible, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. In return, recipients usually commit to teaching in a Queensland state school after graduation, often in regional or remote areas.

Scholarships Information Session at St Peters Lutheran College - 10 Sept 2024
St Peters Lutheran College, Indooroopilly is hosting a Scholarship Information Session on Tuesday 10 September from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the Dron Auditorium.
Year 12s are welcome to attend, along with a parent. Please register via link and wear your school uniform.
The below map will assist with finding the Dron Auditorium (PAC), as well as parking options. Entering the College via Lohe Street is probably best for accessing the Dron Auditorium. Cars are able to park alongside the internal roads, just not on a yellow line.
International Students Expo 13 Aug 2024
Year 11 and Year 12 International Students are invited to participate in the upcoming Education Expo. This event is specifically tailored to assist students from various nationalities in applying for admission through QTAC, UAC, VTAC or SATAC and offer valuable resources for their educational journey.
The details of the Education Expo are as follows:
Date: 13th August 2024 (Tuesday)
Time: 1.00 pm - 5.00 pm
Venue: Brisbane City Hall (64 Adelaide Street, Brisbane City, QLD 4000)
FREE transportation* is available to students, to and from the event on that day, from school, or even a one-way trip upon request.
To further assist students, AUG will provide FREE student support for all applications to the various institutions attending on the day of the Expo, followed by FREE visa renewal assistance.

Site Surveys in Kedron is currently accepting applications for three surveying positions available in late 2024 / early 2025. If you're in Year 12 and considering a gap year or a career in surveying, please submit your resume following the instructions in the attached PDF.
AG Careers Start – Applications open 22 July – 9 September
If you’re 17-25, this unique gap-year program provides you with a paid job, training and development, not to mention the opportunity to build your networks within the agriculture industry. Applicants can indicate which farm type they’d prefer from a wide variety, and also where in Australia they would ideally like to go. A matching process is undertaken to ensure participants are assigned to the type of farms that match their interests and skills. To learn more, visit the AG Careers Start website HERE. The Defence Work Experience Program (DWEP) is a national Youth Program that provides young Australians with an interest in a Defence career, the opportunity to gain exposure to a range of job roles available within Defence and the Australian Public Service. Defence work experience activities are designed to be hands on and interactive so that young people can make informed career decisions.

Places are limited and students are strongly encouraged to submit complete and considered applications as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. We work alongside ADF Units to bring students a valuable experience with serving personnel and therefore unforeseen changes or operational commitments may result in a placement being changed, postponed and/or cancelled at short notice.

Bond provides a range of awards including full-fee scholarships awarding from $102,240 - $204,480 in value, and part-fee scholarships awarding from $25,560 - $102,240 in value. Important - If students are applying for more than one scholarship with different application closing dates, it is important they submit their scholarship application form by the earliest scholarship closing date.
