Support Sony Camp – Volunteer or Donate!

Sony Foundation Camp is back these September School Holidays from 14 – 16 September! This will be the 18th Children’s Holiday Camp Marist has hosted for children with physical and intellectual disabilities.

We aim to:

• Provide a three-day fun camp for children with special needs
• Offer respite care to families of these children
• Offer senior students an opportunity to serve others

For the camp to be a success, we would love support from our community!

Ways you can help:

• Volunteer your time

Are you a Doctor, Nurse, Physio, Support Worker or someone who would love to join in the fun that is Sony Camp? We need medical volunteers but also would love helpers, particularly at nighttime. Our student companions need to debrief at the end of each day, so we need parent volunteers to come in and sit with the campers to allow them this much-needed break. Please complete this FORM if you can help.

• Donate supplies

We are currently finalising the timetable for the camp; we are planning a carnival fun day on the Sunday! Jumping Castles, petting zoos, etc – if you have contacts relating to carnival activities or are keen to get involved, please contact us. We would love to hear from you.

We are looking forward to working with Year 11 students from both Marist and Mt Alvernia. Our students who have volunteered will be contacted shortly to discuss their involvement. All student volunteers are reminded that they will be required to attend the training day on Sunday 8 September and be available for the camp dates. Our Companions will need to be available to stay at the college from Friday 13 September – Tuesday the 16 September.

The Sony Foundation are celebrating 25 years of the camp and Channel 9 are looking to do a feature story on camps of days gone by. Attention Old Boys - If you were involved in the Sony Camp when you attended the College and would like to share your memories of the camp, please send us an email.
