Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!

Thank you to all the families who embraced our Book Week character parade on Monday. This is our first whole school parade as a large school and we were very proud of our students' engagement and support of each other. Last week our Prep to Year 2 students enjoyed a musical performance incorporating many of the shortlisted picture books. Throughout this week we have shared daily stories as a whole school and expressed our ideas through art. Book Week is a wonderful celebration of our SMCM students’ love of literature and reading!

Congratulations to our athletics team who should be very proud of their efforts at the District Athletics carnival on Tuesday! We have a number of students moving on to the next round of competition.

2025 Planning

Each year planning for the following school year seems to start earlier and earlier! We have offered 90 places for Prep 2025 and are meeting with families on our waitlist for other year levels. If your family will not be returning to SMCM in 2025 please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer places to new families. In preparing for 2025 we have begun the recruitment of new staff to replace staff who will be on parental leave. I am working with our MACS Business Manager to calculate the budgets for 2025. Payment of school fees by families is essential in managing and planning for expenditure. The 2025 school year will begin with Prep transition and Individual student meetings for Year 1-6 on Thursday 30th & Friday 31st January and all students commencing full time on Monday 3rd February. Other dates for  2025 will be shared via the newsletter in Term 4.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Evelyn, Ron, Amiya and Gabriel (Newton Homegroup) on the passing of the children's great grandmother in Sydney.

Thank you for your continued support of our great school.
