Artmaking and Exhibiting Excursion

VCE Unit 4 Artmaking and Exhibiting Art students went on a gallery spree visiting diverse commercial and public galleries in Fitzroy and the CBD to experience great art, and to see and evaluate best practice exhibition design and learn about conservation protocols.

They visited the Australian Print Workshop to see Richard Lewer’s themed solo exhibition ‘Birdsong’; 15 lithographs of endangered Australian birds. At the Australian Galleries they saw selected works by John Coburn and the Winter Escape group exhibition. Brunswick Street Gallery had a cornucopia of new art by emerging and mid-career artists on show, D’lan gallery gave our students a private preview of the Paddy Bedford gouache exhibition. The final destination was the State Library Gallery and the ‘Melbourne Out Loud, - Life through the lens of Rennie Ellis’ immersive exhibition. It was a feast of good art and provided inspiration and insights into exhibition design, conservation and art industry.

D'lan Gallery kindly donated their newly published book on Paddy Bedford’s gouaches which will be available for viewing in the Arts department.

A huge thank you to Kathy Hughes, former media teacher at EHS, who generously volunteered to accompany the excursion and provided her insights and good company.

Postcard Show 2024

The results are in!

The most popular theme for this year’s Postcard Show is Music.

Music is endemic to culture and our lives in so many ways.  How will you portray it?

Perhaps you will respond to your favourite musician or genre?

The lyrics of a song? How music makes you feel? Music in different cultures or from different times? You might take inspiration from album covers, performances or an instrument you play?

We are looking forward to your entries and how you respond.
