Week 7, Term 3

Physical Education

 

Prep PE

Students will continue to focus on executing the fundamental movement skills of throwing, catching and ball bouncing within the context of small group games and activities. Students will be encouraged to monitor their accuracy when throwing. 

 

Prep Sensory

In this week’s Sensory Gym sessions, students will enjoy a selection of activities and exercises designed to improve their balance, core strength and hand-eye coordination.

 

Grade 1 and 2

The fundamental movement skills of throwing, catching and ball bouncing will continue to be revised in this week’s lessons. Particular attention will be given to maintaining control of a bouncing ball when changing direction.

 

Grade 3 and 4

We are going to continue our focus on the sport of Basketball. Students will be encouraged to monitor their court movements when transitioning between attack and defence during our modified game.

 

Grade 5 and 6

We are going to continue our focus on the sport of Basketball. Students will be encouraged to monitor their court movements when transitioning between attack and defence during our modified game. We will also practice positioning ourselves under the ring to be ready for a rebound.

STEM

This week students across the school will be applying what they have learnt so far in the term to a project. Students will research, design, create and test a product that solves the following challenges. 

 

Grade 1 and 2  

Using the materials on offer, how can we clean this dirty water? 

 

Grade 3 and 4  

Using your understanding of forces, can you build a model vehicle that can travel a distance of 1m or more? 

 

Grade 5 and 6  

 Can you represent your knowledge of states of matter, molecules, atoms or chemical changes in a format that engages your audience? 

 

Visual Arts

Prep

Students will continue with their Fairytale treehouse. They will choose from a variety of options to add detail and fun to their project, such as a swing, ladder, and garden.

 

Grade 1 and 2

This week students will begin a new printing project. They will stick foam shapes onto a CD in a radial design focussing on colour placement and balance.

 

Grade 3 and 4

Students will continue their unit on ‘The Pocket Dog’. This week they will finish any sewing required to secure their pocket and buttons. They will also add underglaze to their clay dog.

 

Grade 5

Students will be using templates to cut out shapes and designs for the Grade 5 collaborative collage. They will also begin a monochromatic collage using magazine cuttings in one colour.

 

Grade 6

Students will begin a monochromatic collage, cutting out shapes and images from magazines in a chosen colour.

 

Performing Arts

Prep

Students are continuing to rehearse for the concert. They will  practise their character lines and the blocking of their scene, as well as their songs. Students should have their script, music tracks and more to help them rehearse at home with you. Thanks for your support!

 

Grade 1 and 2

With the Olympic and Paralympic Games offering the chance to learn about different countries and cultures, students will continue to learn about different dances and music from around the world. This week students will continue to explore the Chinese Lion dance, creating their own lion puppet to dance with. 

 

Grade 3 and 4

Students are continuing to learn about the dance style of 'breaking'. Students will either be recording a learning snapshot, showcasing a move they have learnt throughout the term, or using the taught moves and moves they have made up, to communicate an idea or story in a group choreography. 

 

Grade 5 and 6

Students are continuing to learn about the dance style of 'breaking'. Students will either be recording a learning snapshot, showcasing a move they have learnt throughout the term, or using the taught moves and moves they have made up, to communicate an idea or story in a group choreography.
