Year 1 & 2

Around our level

What an exciting day the Year 2s had with their Dads visiting for early Fathers’ Day celebrations. They put on a sausage sizzle, and then a lot of the Dads and their kids ended up playing a game of footy on the oval!

In Literacy, we are still reading shortlisted Children’s Book Week books and completing follow-up activities.

We have started exploring procedural texts in Writing lessons. Students have found that procedural texts appear in many places, such as recipes and game instructions.

During our Maths lessons, we have been looking at money, starting off with the Fathers Day stall. Students drew the money they brought with them to spend and then talked about what they had spent and the change they had. They discussed what were the most expensive items and the least expensive. This week they have used catalogues to cut out the things they would like to buy if they were organising a party.

Production practices are in full swing with dress rehearsals happening this week. Excitement is high!
