Japanese

Kaori Bawden

Konnichiwa from Japanese class. We have been busy practising numbers and colours by country flags in the Olympic Unit. We also learned some cheering cries in Japanese to cheer up their team with the colourful ball game. Ganbare (Go for it), and faster (hayaku) are very useful and we use them on many occasions.

Olympic Foil Characters

In Week 6, students created a player in their favourite sports with alfoil and cardboard to finish the Olympic unit. It is wonderful to see how they form their player so vividly and I was so pleased to see them make each sport in detail and of course, learned some Japanese!!! There are some displays in the library if you have a chance to come and see them.

Japanese Fun Day

We have the Japanese Fun Day coming up on 10th of September. There will be Costume Parades, Japanese Drum (Taiko) incursion, and Kendama competition and more. Students and staff have the opportunity to have some fun dressing up in Japanese costume to celebrate Japanese culture and language we learn at St. Joseph's Primary. Let's discuss with your children what they would like to wear and be on the day. Be creative and no need to spend money on the costume at all. I put it here the costume ideas information.

That's all from the Japanese class.
