Junior School
In the Junior School, we have been learning how to create information texts. An information text is a non-fiction text that gives information on particular subjects, such as animals, places, or events like carnivals or celebratory holidays.
Students began by learning how important notetaking is to the writing process, watching videos and taking notes while listening. Following this, students began to explore the concept of plagiarism. Plagiarism refers to the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own. Students learnt about the importance of re-wording information as they gathered data and notes so that it was their own vocabulary being used, and about how making a list of the websites, texts and videos a person has used while researching to create an information text can be an important tool to avoid it.
See below our students working tirelessly to take notes and record where they were gathering their information from.
