Assistant Principal

Dear Parents and Friends,

What a busy fortnight we have at St Francis Xavier!

Book Week Character Parade

Our school has had a long tradition of presenting extraordinary book character parades and this year was no exception. We were surrounded by a sea of wizards and superheroes, princesses and minions. From The Cat in the Hat to Willy Wonka, we were transformed by the magic and colour of creative costumes and big, big smiles. Thank you to all the parents for their support in making or buying costumes and props. What a wonderful morning.

Thank you to the generous families who purchased a book to donate to our school library. Mrs Karevski was delighted to make so many sales and we were able to raise $538 worth of book donations

ICAS Testing

Well done to all the students from Years 3 to 6 who participated in the English and Mathematics ICAS testing. It was an early start but the students completed all tests and will no doubt make our school proud when the results are delivered to their parents.

Fr Lewi

Fr Lewi will be finishing up his time at our parish on Monday 2 September. He has enjoyed his time in our community very much and we have thoroughly appreciated his presence and guidance over the last 3 months. Fr Lewi will be celebrating his final masses this Sunday 2 September. After the 10am mass, there will be a morning tea where families from the parish can join to give thanks to Fr Lewi and say a personal goodbye to him. Morning tea will be served in the Merici hall on the main playground.

St Francis Xavier staff and students will farewell Fr Lewi on Monday.

School Musical

Our school musical is rapidly taking shape and I take great enjoyment from hearing the students singing their concert items in the hall and classrooms each day.

With just under three weeks to go, our Stage 3 students are buzzing with excitement for their big night.

Thank you to parents for organising costumes. Information regarding the sales of ticket will be shared shortly.

Fathers Day Breakfast and Prayer Service

We are looking forward to joining as a school community to honour all the fathers and father figures in our lives on Friday morning. At the conclusion of Mass at 8:30am, breakfast will be served on the main playground. All fathers, grandfathers and father figures are encouraged to join us for some bacon and sausage rolls as well as barista made coffee.

You are then invited to join us for a prayer service, prepared by Years 3-6 on the playground. Fr Lewi will conclude the morning with a special blessing for all fathers.

A big thank you goes to The Simpson family from Ray White at Ashfield (Ava Yr 4, Eloise Yr 3 and Isobel K)

The Simpson family has generously sponsored this breakfast event, providing all food and coffee and rolling up their sleeves from 6:30am to make sure that all our dads are spoiled on Friday morning.

We are very grateful to Michael and Alicia for their generous support of our school.

Father’s Day Gift Stall

All students will be able to purchase a gift for their dads and grandads on Friday. Gifts will range from $3 to $10. All students purchasing a gift are asked to bring their own bag. This is a cash only event so if you would like your child to purchase a gift, please send them with money on Friday.

Please email the office if you would prefer your child NOT to purchase a gift so teachers can manage classes.

Thank you to our mum volunteers from Friends of Francis for all their hard work in organising this event.

Staff Development Day Term Four

Please note that there will be a Staff Development Day on Friday 15th November.

Wishing you all the best for a wonderful weekend.

I hope all the dads get spoiled with lots of love.

God bless,

Fiona
