VM Students Present ‘Tasty Bites Campaign’ to Year 7s

Year 12 VCE VM Literacy/Cooking students have been working on an advocacy unit of work designed to educate Year 7 students on food preferences and intolerances in a workplace setting. Year 12 students have been put into mini promotional campaign groups and have spent much of Term 3 researching and discussing cultural and religious customs that impact the serving of food in certain contexts as well as the dietary requirements people may present in a workplace setting. In the cooking classroom, a strong focus on following procedural texts and developing teamwork skills transferable in a workplace setting has been central to the applied learning component of the project.

Lucas Zahra received a merit for creating a catchy rap song to sell his HSP Halal product and Michaela Cochrane, Anastasia Piccioni and Tanesha Lovett have worked hard to produce some outstanding promotional posters of their lactose-free sugar free cookies. The ‘Tasty Bites Campaign’ will take place week 10 where Year 7 students will have the priceless opportunity to taste the wonderful offerings on display. Year 12 VCE VM students will be responsible for issuing recipe cards designed to educate the years 7s on the wide range of food preferences, intolerances and cultural customs surrounding food service in a workplace.
