Principal, Ms Alex Montgomery

Welcome Back
Welcome back to all of our students, families and staff. I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and restful break and that your child or children have settled well into the new term. It has been wonderful to see our classrooms buzzing with excitement as students reconnect with friends, engage in learning and embrace the opportunities that Term 3 brings.
We are excited to begin the term by celebrating Public Education Week. This year's theme, 'Inspiring Excellence', recognises the outstanding work taking place in our public schools every day. Public Education Week provides a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our students, acknowledge the dedication, passion and professionalism of our staff, and thank our families and wider community for the ongoing support and partnerships that help every child succeed.
As part of our celebrations, we will also be recognising Book Week, embracing this year's theme through a range of engaging literacy activities that inspire a love of reading, imagination and storytelling. We look forward to seeing our students dressed as their favourite book characters and celebrating the joy that books bring to learning.
We warmly invite our families to join us on Thursday 6 August for our Public Education Week celebrations. Please see the exciting agenda below, we would love for you to join us as we celebrate our wonderful students, dedicated staff and vibrant school community.
Finally, don't forget to place your sausage sizzle orders! This is a fantastic way to support our hardworking P&C, whose ongoing fundraising and commitment continue to make a positive difference for our students.
Introducing SPARK
Structured Play Activities with Role-model Kids
This term, we are excited to launch SPARK (Structured Play Activities with Role-model Kids), a new leadership initiative for interested Year 5 and 6 students.
SPARK provides our senior students with the opportunity to develop leadership, responsibility, and teamwork by leading fun, inclusive, and structured playground games for our younger students (K-2) during lunch breaks.
The program is designed to:
- Encourage active and positive play for all students.
- Foster friendships across year levels.
- Build confidence and leadership skills in our Year 5 and 6 role models.
- Support younger students in developing social skills, cooperation, and a sense of belonging.
Our SPARK Leaders will be supported by staff in leading games, encouraging participation, and creating a safe, welcoming environment where everyone feels included. They will be easily identifiable around the playground and will invite younger students to join a variety of engaging activities.
We are proud of our senior students for stepping up and volunteering to be part of this important leadership role and look forward to seeing the positive impact SPARK will have across our school community. Keep an eye out for our SPARK Leaders as they help make lunch playtime active, inclusive, and fun!
100 days of Kindergarten
Last Friday, our Kindergarten students at Edgeworth Public School proudly marked 100 days of learning, a wonderful milestone that provided an opportunity to reflect on how far they have come since their very first day.
We are immensely proud of the progress each student has made. Over these 100 days, they have grown in confidence, forged strong friendships, embraced new challenges, and made impressive strides in reading, writing, mathematics, and social skills. Their enthusiasm for learning and resilience has been truly inspiring to witness.
Congratulations to all our Kindergarten students on reaching this exciting milestone. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated teachers and supportive families, whose commitment has been integral to this incredible journey. Here’s to many more days filled with learning, growth, and success!
Staffing Update
We are delighted to welcome Mrs Stephanie Walters back to Edgeworth Public School following her leave. We hope she has had a wonderful break and look forward to having her back as part of our team.
As part of our staffing arrangements, Mrs Walters will be the Assistant Principal supervising Stage 2, while Mr Kyle Brewis will be the Assistant Principal supervising our RFF teachers. We thank them for their ongoing leadership and support of our staff and students.
