Year 1
We have continued to learn about change of direction and strength of forces by playing small games. We had fun changing the strength of our roll to try to get the ball to stop in a marked box on the floor. It was tricker than it looked!
We’ve also used car launchers to experience changing the strength of forces. Here’s how we made them using a shoebox, paperclip and rubber bands. You might like to have a go at making one at home.
Year 2
Year 2 began the term exploring how sound is created through vibrations. Students made guitar like instruments using different sized rubber band, discovering that changing the size and tension on the bands changed the sound. Using reading phones, they also investigated how their voices sound when speaking and whispering.
Year 4
Year 4 explored the properties of materials by comparing various lunchboxes from the 1990s to today and observing how their materials and designs have changed over time. They then investigated a range of items for rigidity and used torches to test how much light could pass through them.
