Learning Space News

Foundation
Mathematics
Students have strengthened their understanding of numbers to 20 and beyond, extending their skills towards 100. They have explored addition and subtraction through engaging games and hands-on activities, and revisited practical concepts, such as sharing and money.
English
Students were treated to an exciting performance by a theatre company called 'The Flying Bookworm'. The actors performed a variety of fairytales, including Jack and the Beanstalk, The Ugly Duckling, and Goldilocks and The Three Bears, bringing them to life! Students loved watching the interactive stories being performed, joining in and laughing as the stories unfolded. It was a wonderful way to explore storytelling and imagination and to learn more about different fairytales in an exciting, interactive way.
Community Inquiry Unit
Students have been learning about their local community of Springvale South. They have discovered who community helpers are and the important roles they play in keeping our community safe, healthy and connected. Students have participated in a range of activities: walking to the local temple, a visit from Nurse Dani and the local paramedics brought their ambulance to school.
Students are excited to visit the supermarket, post office and have Greg, our school's gardener, to show us how he keeps the school grounds clean and organised over the next few weeks. The police and firefighters visit us in their special cars and trucks!
These learning experiences are important for students to understand how these helpers contribute to our daily lives.
