News from the Art Room

Dear Families,

In preparation for an art project early next year I am in need of as many plastic water bottles as possible. If you have any or use any in the coming weeks and over the summer break, could you please put them aside for me. Any size is fine and lids are not required. They will be cut so I can only accept the soft plastic bottles that bend/crush easily.

Many thanks

Catholic Education Week 2026

Creative Arts Exhibition

The Catholic Education Week Creative Arts Exhibition is a celebration of the vibrant

creativity within our Catholic school communities. Through visual art, students are

given the opportunity to share their stories, express their faith, and explore the beauty of the world around them.

The Exhibition aims to:

• Honour the artistic gifts of students across all year levels.

• Provide a platform for young people to express their creativity in

a faith-filled context.

• Make connections with the theme of Catholic Education Week.

• Foster a sense of pride and joy in our Catholic school communities.

• Encourage collaboration and connection between schools through the arts.

At its heart, the Exhibition is not only about presenting art but about celebrating the

imagination, hope and spirit of our students as they contribute to the wider story of

Catholic Education.

The theme for 2026 is Christ beside me: Walking in the footsteps of Saint Patrick.

The Art leaders will be working on something collaborative that they will submit, however if your child would like to submit their own artwork from home, please contact me and I can provide further details. Submissions are due Friday 21st November.

Media Arts - Stop Motion App

Our deep dive into animation has been a hit with most levels exploring Stop Motion on the ipads and using various materials to create their own animated films. We have refined our skills by looking at the importance of having consistent lighting, a stable device, correct angle of shots and the effectiveness of the background.

We will explore how storyboards can be used to help plan and map out stories before they are made. There are some amazing resources on the ACMI website which we are using in class, you may also find these helpful to use at home.

Remembrance Day Poppies

My thanks to the year 3 and 4 students for helping to make some paper poppies for our Remembrance Day display. This activity was valuable to students, allowing for some reflective and poignant discussions as the poppies were being made.

Christmas Displays in the Church

This week, students across all year levels are helping to add some colour to a display for the church foyer during the season of Advent. If you attend mass during December, please stop to take a moment to view these festive artworks.
