In Literacy we have been continuing to learn about combinations of letters and their most common sound. For the last two weeks we have leant about ee and ea making a long e sound in words such as bee, fee, see, Carlee and Marlee and ea in words such as beak, Heath and leaf. We are revising our reading comprehension strategies, to ensure we are understanding what we are reading and looking again at fiction and non fiction texts. We are fine tuning our written work, working on stamina and writing for longer periods of time, plus adding adjectives and different punctuation such as question marks for questions, exclamation marks for expression, commas to take a short breath and of course full stops to end our sentences.
In Numeracy we have been revising all areas of the curriculum ready for assessments next week, including place value, addition, subtraction, making equal groups and sharing equally and days of the week. We have added and subtracted with money and have also revised length, mass, capacity, shapes, matching number words to numerals, showing which groups are larger and smaller, writing numbers before and after given numbers. We have worked with ten frames, number lines, physical manipulatives and games to consolidate our learning. Gee we have been busy this year!
In AUSLAN we are revising all learnt material including Actions, Alphabet, Animals, Body, Calendar, Clothes, Colours, Community, Country, Family, Feelings, Food, Greetings, House, Money, Nature, Numbers, Occupations, People, School, Sport, Time, Transport and Weather. Students are enjoying signing our Acknowledgement of Country every morning.
Please continue to encourage your child to read every night and practise reading and spelling their heart words. I wonder who will win our class competition of nights read?
Congratulations to Winston who was our last Star of the Week, taking our class bear home for a week and sharing his adventures with his classmates. Winston loved sitting at a special table for the week, inviting special people to sit with him at his desk.
🔤 In English, students have been reviewing their digraph sounds, such as ar, or, aw, ir, ur, er, air, oo, le, ow and ou. These important sounds are being reinforced through reading, writing, and spelling activities. Students have also been diving deeper into narrative elements and personal recounts. This has been a fantastic opportunity for students to apply their phonics knowledge in context while developing their writing skills.
🔢 In Mathematics, students have been consolidating their understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We are particularly focusing on strengthening mental and preferred strategies for working out our equations. These skills are being practised through hands-on activities, games, and problem-solving tasks that support the development of mental computation and flexible thinking.
🍃 In Auslan, students have been revising their emotions knowledge and practicing how we can sign using our hands and facial expressions, how we feel throughout the day. We have also been practising commands and concepts such as sit, stand, toilet, quiet, wash hands, play, and line up. These signs are used daily in the classroom to support routine and inclusion, and students are developing confidence in using Auslan to communicate and follow instructions in a respectful and engaging way.
Congratulations to Jackson, William and Lexi who are our current Reading Night leaders, each achieving over 250 Reading Night certificates.
We celebrate reading milestones in our classroom with a special board - each time a student progresses to a new Reading Night goal, we colour a box.
Keep up the reading, students and families! Regular and consistent reading makes a powerful impact on your child’s learning across all areas of the curriculum, as well as supporting their confidence and wellbeing.

It was Levi's turn this week! Leo has officially been to everyone's house in our classroom! We love seeing the fun adventures Leo shares with his friends each week.
A reminder to students and families: each Monday, we randomly draw a name from our ‘Leo Tub’ to decide who will take Leo home. As a class, we agreed this was the fairest way to ensure everyone gets a turn. Leo will now become our 23rd student in our class and spend his days helping us settle into our classroom, feel calm, support us in our learning and join in on any fun classroom or school activities.
Our Student Achiever this week is Cooper! Congratulations of being our Student Achiever! I am so proud of your efforts, both in and out of the classroom. Keep making good choices, helping others, being a kind friend, focusing on your learning and following our school values of being a Respectful Wren, Responsible Ringtail and Resilient Red Kangaroo!

Apologies. Unfortunately Mrs. Murphy is away and is unable to participate in this fortnights newsletter. I'm sure she will make up for it in the next newsletter.
