Excursion Time

We visited Mont De Lancey, where students stepped back in time to explore what life was like in the past. They enjoyed touring the historic homestead, learning about old-fashioned tools and household items, and comparing them to the technology we use today. The hands-on activities and stories helped bring history to life, sparking wonderful curiosity and conversations.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for your time, enthusiasm, and support. Your generosity made such a positive difference, and we are truly grateful.

Week 7 Update

This week in Literacy, we continued our Little Learners Journey and began exploring poetry. Students have been building on their phonics knowledge through Little Learners activities, practising blending, segmenting, and recognising spelling patterns. They are becoming more confident in using these skills during reading and writing tasks.

We also introduced poems, looking at how poets play with rhythm, rhyme, and descriptive language. Students enjoyed listening to short poems, discussing the feelings or images they create, and having a go at creating simple patterned lines of their own. This is helping them develop a sense of creativity, word choice, and sound patterns in language.

This week in Maths, we have been busy checking out students’ addition and subtraction knowledge. We explored different strategies such as using number lines, counting on, making ten, and using part–part–whole models. Students practised solving problems, explaining their thinking, and choosing strategies that work best for them. This has helped us see what they already know and where we can continue to support their learning.
