Grade 6

During the Grade 6 Canberra Camp earlier this year, children visited the National Portrait Gallery and were inspired by the My Awesome Australian project — a national initiative inviting young artists to create portraits honouring individuals who make a positive contribution to Australia.

Launched with the support of Governor General Sam Mostyn, the project highlights the importance of leadership, kindness, and community.

Guided by these values, the Grade 6 students entered the competition, demonstrating exceptional dedication and creativity, producing thoughtful and expressive portraits that proudly celebrate their Awesome Australians.

We are so excited to show you the final portraits that were displayed on the National Portrait online gallery!

The Governor General Sam Mostyn noticed how many friendship-themed portraits there were from our school, commenting “I know Preston Primary students always talk about friends and friendships and so it must be a pretty big part of the school”

WOW!   Well done Grade 6 - we are so proud of you!
