Principal's Message

Term 4, Week 7

Hi Everyone,

It is Book Fair this week, which is always an event that our children love.  It also marks the end of borrowing and library lessons for the year.  Please, if you have any of our school’s library books at home, can you please send them in.  Thank you to our wonderful librarians, Mrs Annika Sauvage and Ms Catherine Roche.

As a leadership team, we were very privileged last week to go offsite together and work with a regional team to unpack what our School Strategic Plan will look like over the next 3 years.  It is wonderful to be so well supported by Education Queensland and the team at the Education Futures Institute.  Thank you to Mrs Natala Crawley, who acted as the principal on that day.

Congratulations to all our STAR Award recipients!  We are very proud of you.  You and your families must be overwhelmed by the description as to why you are a STAR.

We were able to celebrate our STEM Teams on assembly and wow, was I impressed, listening to the problems that they addressed as teams.  Our future is in great hands!!  Thank you to Mr Chow, Ms Priday and Mrs Huxley their coaches.

The Legends of the Lost have done the most extraordinary job of fixing a large problem in our school-lost property.  This wonderful group of dedicated students were officially anointed last week and received their badges.  Congratulations to these children and thank you-you make our school a better place every day.

‘Beethoven’ did a fantastic job of entertaining us on assembly last week, thank you girls.  This week we have a P-3 Merit Assembly and the Chamber Strings will play.  Even more exciting though, Thursday night it is the Ironside State School Musical Gala at Brisbane Boys College!!   It was so very special last year, and I know it will be again.  The doors open at 4:45pm for a 5pm start.

Coming Up This Week:

  • Book Fair -  Monday 17th   - Friday 21st November
  • 2026 Prep Transition Afternoon  -  Wednesday 19th November
  • Gala Music Concert  - Thursday 20th November, doors open at 4:45pm
  • Prep-Year 3 Merit Assembly  - Chamber Strings Performing  -  Friday 21st November, 9:15am
  • Christian Puppet Show  - Friday 21st November

This week we have the Christian Puppet Show on Friday morning after assembly.  I want to again thank all the volunteers who come into our school and provide religious instruction for our children, we are so grateful!

Last week I got over-excited and said it was our 2026 Prep Transition afternoon on Wednesday, but it is this week!  We look forward to meeting our smallest, new members of our school community.

Two weeks ago, was the Japan Study Tour reflection night which I sadly had to miss.  Mrs Lee and Mr Corbett said it was just wonderful and yet again, discussed with me what incredible ambassadors these children have been for our school.  Thank you, Mrs Lee, Mr Corbett and all staff who helped!

We are finally getting our crumbling stairs fixed, so that fence is out of action.  Please do not use the Ironside Street entrance until further notice.

Have a truly wonderful week.

Yours in Education,
