Principals' Message
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Term 4! The sun has been shining this week and summer uniforms seem to have become the norm. Please remember that students wear their school uniform three days a week and sports uniform twice a week, on the designated days.
On the Sports Uniform note, it was a real shame to have to postpone the Sports today. The threat of thunderstorms, high winds and rain predicted for the afternoon have made us all very cautious. The safety of our students and families is always paramount and we just felt that the risk was too high. The new date and time will be Monday 28th October at 2pm. Parents are more than welcome to come as we will need extra helpers too.
Having all now settled into the new daylight saving time, a reminder that school starts at 8:55am each day. We allow students to enter the classroooms at 8:45am to unpack and get ready for the day. Arriving after 8:55am interupts the other children in the class and makes it difficult for your child as they are missing out on the early instructions of the day. We perfectly understand that everyone has days where you are running late and things don't just work in the morning like you would like them to! However, this should not be everyday.
We know that all class teachers have communicated to their families about celebrating birthdays at school. We celebrate birthdays in several ways including singing Happy Birthday in class and at our weekly whole school Assembly. Students also receive stickers from various teachers. We kindly ask that parents and carers refrain from bringing in cakes, treats and party bags to celebrate birthdays. Birthday cakes, lollies and toys are best kept for home celebrations.
Please note some important information on the following eSmart page regarding the new laws around teens and the use of social media. As an eSmart school we are are doing many things to insure our students are safe online. Often the cybersafety issues we are alerted to happen at home. The cooperation of you with us really does make a huge difference in making our students good cybersafe citizens.
Next Friday is World Teachers Day, with the theme 'Hats Off to Teachers'. Like last year students are invited to wear a different hat to their school hat as a sign of their support and thanks to the amazing teachers of COHR. We are very priveleged to work with such wonderfully dedicated professionals .
SAVE THE DATE COHR FETE 2024!!
Friday November 15th 4pm- 9pm
We need EVERYONE at COHR to help us to make this a success. So over the next few weeks we will be calling out for helpers for the stalls, it would be great if every family could give 2 hours of helping out.
Wristbands giving you access to all rides (Superslide, Fire Rescue Inflatable, Cup & Saucer, Scrambler and Animal Farm) will soon be available for purchase for $40 prior to the day and $45 on the day. Individual tickets for each ride are available from $2 - $6 at the Fete only.
Those who love to walk will be able to, from next week, pick up some fete flyers to letter box drop on their stroll. We will have a map posted for you to mark the areas you intend to distribute to.
We are still asking for donations :
- jars full and empty for the Pick a Jar stall
- White Elephant (second hand items)
- new items for the tubs for the Big Wheel prizes
Regards,
Brian Martin (Lead Principal) &
Jo Cowan (Deputy Principal)
