On Friday, 6th September, St Anthony’s participated in the Noble Park District Athletics at Ross Reserve Athletics Facility, Noble Park. 42 students from years 3-6 represented the school in a series of track and field events against schools within the Noble Park district, with 19 students competing for the first time.

Track and field events included:

Prior to the event, students trained for their respective events over a four week period. Each student showed great effort and determination in each event they competed in, however the most pleasing aspect of the day was the terrific sportsmanship they showed towards both their teammates and opposing competitors, as well as showing exemplary behaviour throughout the day. Their outstanding efforts resulted in us achieving back-to-back 5th place finishes, finishing on 592.50 points overall.

A huge congratulations to the following students who placed in the top 3 positions of their respective events:

We had eight students who progressed to the Greater Dandenong Division Athletics which was held on Monday, 11th September at Casey Fields Athletics Centre. The group produced some fantastic results on the day, most notably our four 1500m runners who all finished in 1st place in their respective races. Some of the highlights of the day included:

Ruth - 1st place in 1500m

Kobe - 1st place in 1500m and 100m

John - 1st place in 1500m

Francesco - 1st place in 1500m

Loi - 2nd place in high jump & 200m

Dhyan, Francesco, Nathan & Loi - 3rd place in 4x100m relay

A big congratulations to Ruth, Kobe, John, Francesco and Loi who will now progress to the South Metropolitan Regional Athletics to be held next term. To have five students progress this far is an incredible achievement and a testament for all the hard work they have put in. They are now only one event away from making it to the Victorian State Athletics carnival!

Our athletics squad deserves a huge congratulations for the way they represented the school in both carnivals. They displayed unwavering dedication and persistence in their trials, training sessions and on event day and should be extremely proud of everything they’ve achieved.
