PREP
A big welcome back to all our Preps and Prep Families. We hope you all had a wonderful break. We were so excited to see our beautiful Preps after two weeks and what a great start to the term we have had.
As you know, it is our last school term and we have some very important dates, which we will post to DOJO next week.
We started off our term with a holiday recount and we were blown away at all the amazing ideas, writing and pictures that came from this. It sounds like the Preps had so much fun during the break.
We jumped straight into our sentence of the week - ‘“No Ned!” yells Tim. Ned is not in his pen and has run off. So Sam sniffs and sniffs and finds Ned in the log hut.’ We spoke about base words before adding an ‘s’, to make sure we don’t forget our FLOSS rule.
We started our unit of measurement in numeracy. We started exploring and comparing tall/short, heavy/light and big/small. We even spoke about the different ways we could measure things… The Preps had some very creative ideas!
In GEM time, we have started our unit on kindness. We brainstormed all the different ways we can show kindness to our friends, family, community and environment.
Friendly reminder about hats. They are compulsory as of this term. If your child doesn’t have a hat, they will need to play in the courts.
We will start applying sunscreen too. It would be very much appreciated if sunscreen could be applied at home, so that we only need to reapply once during the day. If your child requires their own sunscreen, please provide this to your classroom teacher.
Here’s what the Preps had to say this week!
Padang Reik; I like doing Little Learners.
Stella Mckenzie; I liked doing holiday writing and playing with the toys.
Hudson Davis; Playing with the toys and playing outside.
Karina Orlovska; I love Heggerty and just learning everything to go in my head.

GRADE 5/6
Welcome back to Term 4, what a busy and exciting term we have ahead!
This week in Literacy the Grade 6’s have started looking at The Black Cockatoo, while the Grade 5’s are starting a new novel, The Last Bear. In Maths, the Grade 6’s are wrapping up their unit on angles and moving onto financial mathematics which the Grade 5’s are currently working on. In religion, we will be looking at the concept of ‘transformation’ and how Jesus’ life, death and resurrection give hope to us in our daily lives. In inquiry, we are about to start the topic ‘Mind Your Business’, exploring business and economics. For this topic we will be sending home a Q&A for students to ask an adult about how they manage or run a business.
Dan & Leah’s class have been working hard on their prayer gathering for this week. Jess’ class is on prayer gathering on the 25th of October, which falls on Mission Day, along with the annual Teachers vs 6’s ‘rebound ball’ game. The rade 6’s will be training for this during their PE sessions over the next few weeks and the rivalry is fierce with the teachers looking to get another win on the board! The 5/6 students have been organising their stalls for our annual fete with plenty of excitement circulating through the classrooms. Swimming is set to commence for years 3-6 on Thursday the 24th of October and will run through till the end of November.
Our Grade 6’s are off to Melbourne Camp next week, which everyone is super excited for. The itinerary has now been posted on Dojo with everything the students will need to pack listed, if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact us.
