Head of Primary Years' Report
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Hazel Glen College,
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of Term 3 already. This year so far has been wonderful to see our Primary Years community grow with our first-ever Year 5 cohort, with our students flourishing together. We see this both inside and outside of the classroom. We will be holding student voice sessions next term to hear from our Year 4 and 5 students who will be our future senior students of our school to hear about opportunities they would like to have at school to make their final years as primary students special.
I would like to congratulate Mrs Carolyn Bamberg on her appointment as Principal to Reservoir Primary School starting from Term 4. Mrs Bamberg has been an asset to our College over the past few years in roles within the Primary Years and Whole College. We wish her well on her next chapter and thank her for her contributions to Hazel Glen College.
We were pleased to see parents attend the parent teacher conferences this week and we hope that you found this time insightful to hear about your child and their progress at school both academically and socially/emotionally. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your child, please contact the class teacher as your first point of call and if needed, you can also reach out to the Instructional Leader who oversees the year level.
School tours have been continuing and we are fortunate now that we are a Primary School consisting of Prep to Year 6 next year with many families joining us for next year across all of our year levels. We are still taking Prep enrolments and encourage families to ensure that they have made contact with our school office on 9717 7500 if they intend to attend Hazel Glen College next year. For any enrolled Preps for 2025, further information will be communicated regarding transition session dates and times. If you have family or friends with a child ready to start school next year for prep, please let them know to contact the College.
Students have proudly showcased their work in our expo afternoons. We appreciate the involvement of our parents who have come along to our classrooms to share in their child and their peer's work. Our students love to have these opportunities to share what they have been learning about and we appreciate the efforts they have put in with their projects.
Our Performing Arts House Day was a success. Students and teachers have worked together across the term to perfect their performances and performed on Wednesday to their peers and families and the judging panel. Congratulations to Stynes House as this year's winning team. After watching all of the House team performances, I have felt like I have travelled the world and back again. The performances were of the highest standard showcasing the talents of our students and staff and I was impressed with the level of participation from everyone involved. A big thank you to families who attended or supported this event by helping your child with their costumes and props for the day.
Today we held our whole school Footy Day parade on the oval and it was a fun event where students celebrated their teams proudly no matter where they ended up on the ladder. Footy Day lunches were a highlight for the students and this was a great way to end the term together as our school community.
We hope that all families enjoy the holidays and some time together and we look forward to welcoming you all back next term with students starting on Monday the 7th of October.
