Kurri Kurri High School celebrates its first Book Week!

Kurri Kurri High School marked an exciting milestone this term by celebrating its very first

Book Week! Organised by the dedicated English faculty, the event brought a new wave of enthusiasm for reading throughout the school. Teachers got into the spirit, dressing up as characters from beloved books, adding a fun and creative touch to the week. Among the standout stories were No One Likes a Fart, Inside Out, and the timeless classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar

The festivities included interactive activities that truly engaged students. One of the highlights was the “Book Couples” game in the library run by the dedicated Ms Wasson, where students had a blast matching iconic literary pairs. To bring The Very Hungry Caterpillar to life, students indulged in a delicious spread of the same foods the famous insect munched through in the story, a memorable and tasty experience for all.

Another crowd favourite was the scavenger hunt, which encouraged students to explore the school grounds in search of hidden book clues. With books as prizes, many students left with new reads in hand and smiles on their faces.

This inaugural event was a huge success, and the enthusiasm from both students and staff has sparked excitement for what the future holds. Ms Golding thanks her superstar staff for their efforts (Ms Miller, Ms Noone, Ms Kidd, Ms Adams and Ms Norberry). With hopes of making Book Week an annual tradition, the school looks forward to growing the event bigger and better each year, bringing even more fun and a deeper love for reading to Kurri Kurri High.

Year 12 Trial Examination wins!
A huge congratulations to our Year 12 students, who demonstrated significant growth in their writing skills during the recent English trial examinations. Through dedication and hard work, many students showcased a deeper understanding of complex texts, improved essay structure, and more refined analytical thinking. Their progress is a testament to their commitment and the support of their teachers throughout the year. As the HSC approaches, we wish all our Year 12s the very best of luck. Keep up the incredible effort—you’ve got this.
