KUTA-KAYA

Think strong, able, powerful

Kuta Kaya Sport

Students in Kuta Kaya have been enjoying developing their bowling skills. Each week they have attended Kurri Kurri Bowling club where they have been coached and guided in developing skills for the bowling green. It has been fantastic to see so many students encouraging each other as teammates and participate in some healthy competitive games each week. We have a running tally of team points and are looking forward to naming our overall winning team for the term. A big thank-you to Kurri Kurri Bowling Club for hosting Kuta-kaya this term.

Kuta Kaya Driver Learner Assistance Program

Nine students from Kuta-kaya participated in the Driver Learner Assistance Program in week 5, to support them getting their Learner License. The students did three days of preparation before attending the RMS at Cessnock on the Thursday. All students did their best, and a big congratulations to Jacob W., Jack B., Claire P., Jayden H. and Jayden O. who were successful in getting their L's.

A big thank you to Kylie from Gordon Drivers Licence Program for putting the students through the program.

Kirawa Work Experience

Some of the students from the Kirawa room have been doing work experience this term. A big thank you to Kurri Kurri Bowling Club, Dominos – Kurri Kurri, Kurri Rural and Pet Produce, Tame that Computer and our very own Mitch Hill for supporting the students with their placements.

Food Technology

Kuta Kaya students have been thoroughly enjoying the diverse ‘cook at home’ recipes; with incredible independence and eager appetites. It has been Ms Wesley’s pleasure watching and working with our students to achieve yummy products. ‘Noone is born a great cook, one learns by doing’.

Wuwing Community Access

Wuwing students have been exposed to a variety of activities for community access this term. Students have learnt the process of making and enjoying crepes, croissants and French toast. Students have gone on outings to Biralee park, ten pin bowling and finally at the end of the term they will be going to Kurri Kurri Bowling Club to experience ordering their own food. Students have enjoyed having Makenzie Minter (work experience student) in our classroom every Friday to assist with learning.
