Congratulations to the following recipients of sporting awards achieved throughout the year based on their representative honours in their chosen sports:
Senior Sportswoman of the Year
Lahni Woodger
Senior Sportsman of the Year
Alexander Challenor
Olympic Change-Maker Award
Chelsea Sutton
Olympic Change-Maker Award
Oliver Randazzo
These students are highly deserving of these awards and are recognised for their sporting efforts throughout their time at the College.
Congratulations to Jett Murphy and Cleo Jovcevski who represented Sydney Catholic Schools at NSWCCC Athletics Championships. Both Jett (long jump) and Cleo (800m) performed incredibly well and finished in the top 10 of their events. Congratulations and we are so proud of your efforts.
Congratulations to Chelsea Sutton in representing Australia for the second time this year, this time in Croatia at the World Canoe Marathon Championships. Chelsea came 19th in her individual race and 12th in the doubles race. Congratulations Chelsea.
Congratulations to Oliver Randazzo for again being selected in the Australian Young Socceroos Football Team to compete at the U20 Asian Cup. To date, The Young Socceroos had an early 2-0 win over Afghanistan and look to consolidate their start opening with matches against Macau, Palestine and Saudi Arabia to follow. We wish Oliver and his team mates the very best throughout this tournament.
Good luck to Alex Challenor who represents the Australian Schoolboys Rugby League Team in the holidays. Alex has been at the forefront of representative teams in rugby league and this is the pinnacle for rugby league in schools. Good luck Alex.
Congratulations to Kobe Sorenson who recently represented the Australian Youth Life Saving Team at the World Championships on the Gold Coast. Kobe raced incredibly and was crowned World Youth Beach Sprint Champion and was narrowly beaten in the Beach Flags event. Kobe also picked up more Gold medals in teams and relay events throughout the competition. Congratulations Kobe.
Congratulations to our Junior Girls AFL Team who, for the first time for many, learnt the game of AFL and improved every week throughout the competition. Battling against mostly Year 8 girls, our girls played against Bosco for 3rd place on a windy afternoon out at the Ridge Sports Complex and put up a great fight, unfortunately, Bosco scored too many goals in the first half with the wind at their back, and our girls couldn’t claw back the difference. It was so impressive to see our girls never give up and represent our college with pride and dignity. Congratulations girls.
Trials have begun and will continue for our competitive sports of OzTag and Volleyball for Term IV. We are hoping to fulfil teams of juniors and seniors for the summer competition. Good luck to all our students trialling and playing.
Good luck to any students competing throughout the holidays in your chosen sporting field. I know of OzTag/Touch and Surf Life Saving (Coolangatta Gold) so if you are or have competed in an event over the holidays, I’d love to know how you perform.
