Leader of Year 12 Wellbeing
Mrs Rachel O'Connor
It is with pride and with some sadness that we bid farewell to our Year 12 students. As we come to the last week of Year 12, I ask the school community to keep our Year 12 students in their thoughts and prayers as they bring to conclusion 13 years of formal schooling. Week 10 has seen the school community celebrate the Year 12 Graduation Assembly and the Graduation Mass. These two events are the highlight of our school year and are an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of all of our students and to celebrate as a school community, an important milestone in their lives.
Thank you to all the parents and guardians of our Year 12 cohort for your constant support of your sons and daughters and for being such an important part of their school journey. You play a pivotal role in the life of your son or daughter as their first educators, and under your guidance, have become mature young adults who are ready to take on the world.
I would also like to thank the dedication and support of the teachers of the College who have worked alongside your sons and daughters on their HSC journey. They have provided their knowledge and expertise with Year 12 and will continue to do so until the very last exam.
Even though there is a sense of finality, there is still a way to go. I encourage students to continue using the Learning Centre, to work collaboratively and ‘stand strong’ and to ‘stand together’ in the lead up to the HSC. The library will be opened in the holidays and teachers will be on call throughout the HSC period. It is now important to get back into routine, apply a study timetable and start handing those practice responses into your teachers for marking and feedback. Most importantly maintain balance and good health throughout this time.
Finally I would like to thank Year 12 for being a fantastic year group. Your sense of community, involvement in the College and your role as leaders as senior students has made my time with you memorable and extremely special. Good luck with your preparation for the HSC and for your future, the words of an Irish blessing, "May the road rise to meet you, and the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm on your face and the rains fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you gently in the palm of his hand “ Goodbye and all the best for your future.
Nixon Powell: It was a good experience at the school, having only the year 11s and 12s. It was a step up from junior school but it was fun and many activities allowed me and others to meet the other people in my year to make lifelong friendships.
Maggie Day: My experience at the college has been good fun with my peers and teachers. I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to complete my schooling here amongst such great people and will take the lessons learned from De La Salle with me in the years to come.
Annakay Winston: My experience at De la Salle College literally flew by, the main reason for this was because of all the teachers' commitment to always care, teach and help the students. I will truly miss my days spent at the College and forever thankful for the memories and friendships I made but I am also very excited to see where my future leads me.
