Principal's Message

Mr Stephen Mahoney

Dear Parents/Guardians

The last week of term 3  is a significant week in the school calendar as it marks the end of our Year 12 students’ formal schooling.

While this is a special moment in all schools, I feel that it is somehow special at St Aloysius College Cronulla as each Year 12 cohort who graduates instinctively departs with that sense of LaSallian spirit. No one seems to actively or artificially create this but for literally generations HSC students at our school have been united and bonded by a tremendous sense of unity and togetherness.

I spoke to the Year 12 students last week about the importance of ‘finishing well’; it is so important for each group of quality young women & men to move through the final week of school in a positive way, do the right thing, make good decisions and leave with great memories. I am very proud of our student’s for the maturity and responsibility they display.

This is a period of terrific excitement for the Year 12 students as their 13 years of schooling draws inexorably to a close. However, there is still much to do and much to achieve. It is important for Year 12 students to refocus now the Trial HSC has been completed. The learning growth for students who apply themselves over the next 3/4 weeks can be significant. It is crucial that students use this time productively to further develop their skills in responding to HSC styles questions. Working collectively with peers, submitting practice papers to teachers for feedback and peer teaching are some of the ways to improve. I encourage the students to use the College facilities (particularly the Learning Centre) during the holiday period and engage in a structured study timetable.

I wish this wonderful group of young women & men all the very best for the remainder of 2024 and beyond.

St Aloysius College - Sydney Catholic Schools - Inquiry and Review Process

Tuesday, 22 October & Wednesday, 23 October

What is Inquiry & Review?

The Inquiry & Review  process is an opportunity for our College as a self-reviewing, self-improving effective Catholic school to review its learning improvement journey and to be supported and challenged in this activity with an external Review Team from Sydney Catholic Schools.

This Review, occurring once in a five-year cycle, will focus on two main parts:

  • Looking back: (particularly at evidence during our transition to a Year 7-12 College in 2024)
  • Looking forward: What are some future directions for our improvement journey during 2025-2029, how might we get there and how will we know?

Staff Spirituality Day
