Book Week 2024

Book Week Dress Up Parade

It was incredible to see so many of our students and staff dressed as their favourite fictional characters at our annual Book Week dress up day and parade. Thank you to all the members of our school community who came along to our special assembly to join in the celebrations.

This year our Book Week dress up event raised money for the World Literacy Foundation, an Australian charity which strives to assist every child, regardless of geographic location, with the opportunity to acquire literacy skills and books to reach their full potential. Our generous Mackellar community raised an incredible $184 through gold coin donations. This money will be donated to help build 5 libraries in Ugandan primary schools with access to over 2,500 books.

See the impact your generous donation will have on children in Uganda in this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsBmiyQwZR0

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair returned to Mackellar during Book Week and was another tremendous success. It was fantastic to see so many families visit the Fair to purchase new books to read and enjoy. A percentage of the profits from this year's Book Fair will go towards purchasing new books for our school library.

We look forward to having the Book Fair return to Mackellar in 2025.

Premiers' Reading Challenge

A reminder that this year's Premiers' Reading Challenge ends on Friday 6th September. The Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for your child to experience a range of books. Students who complete the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by Victorian premier, Jacinta Allan.

If your child needs any assistance accessing or participating in the Premiers' Reading Challenge, please contact myself or their classroom teacher.
