Penguins on Parade
The Australian Antarctic Festival was held in Hobart in August. The festival had over 20,000 visitors to the event, and we are very proud to say that Mackellar Primary School's penguins were an iconic feature. Our students' penguins will also be part of Mackellar's Art Show next term before they are finally returned to our young artists forever.
Further to this exciting news, here is a brief recount from Stella in grade 4 who was on holidays in Hobart with her family at the time of the festival. Thank you to Stella for sharing her story. I have included a couple of videos of Stella using her creativity and tools to paint her penguin.
Whilst my family and I were on holidays in Hobart, we did so many enjoyable things, but what I was most excited about was seeing my penguin on display.
When we arrived, it took a while to find the Mackellar Primary School stand because there were thousands more penguins on display. My family and I eventually found it and I was able to show them my penguin, and we took many photographs as it was such a proud moment.
Seeing my very own penguin on display at a festival gallery was definitely one of the highlights of my holiday. The Penguin Project experience was an amazing experience that I will never forget!

Grade 4B
As outlined in a previous newsletter in June, our students designed their penguins first and used various strategies and tools to paint them.
