2024 School Council
Dear Parents,
Progress is well underway on our latest project, this time upgrading the surrounds of our oval. To date 80 mature trees have been planted which has a dramatic visual effect. Now the contractors are installing irrigation to ensure they thrive through the warmer months. This already makes such a difference to that area of the grounds, and over time it will provide greater shade, flowers for our bee hive and improved aesthetics.
During the early stages of the project, the student leaders consulted with the contractor about their contribution to the project. At the back of the oval they have decided on a 'Yarning Circle' surrounded by logs, rocks and other natural landscaping features. This area is where students can 'hang out' during break times and where during class time, teachers can take their grade to, and use the circle as a way of holding conversations and discussions that build trust and caring relationships between people. This is the first stage of the student project which can be expanded upon by future leaders to grow this area into a much larger space over time.
Over the course of the term, you may have noticed the front of the school being spruced up by our wonderful team from Mambourin Enterprises. They have shifted close to 50 cubic metres of rock over the term to make the front of our school look its best. So on behalf of our school community, we thank the team from Mambourin and look forward to seeing more of their great work in the future.
Our next project should commence in late October to early November when we commence replacing all of the ramps around the school to ensure they meet Australian standards. This includes some of the entrances and ramps shown in the pictures below.
