Year 10 are counting down their remaining days, in anticipation for the End of Year (EOY) Examinations which begin in Term 4, Week 4. Students will begin their formal examinations on 4 November 2024, and will conclude these on 7 November.

Once students have completed their formal examinations, they will begin their alternate program designed to teach them real world skills and knowledge, whilst strengthening their understanding of the Preliminary Course through mandatory training. The program relies heavily on community involvement, and as such, is subject to change at minimal notice. Please see the attachment, regarding the current version of the Year 10 EOY Program.

In Term 4, students will celebrate their final Wellbeing Day together, attending the Raw Challenge at Doyalson. Last year, students had a fabulous day and tested their teamwork, leadership and endurance. I look forward to seeing what this cohort can do!

Year 10 Leaders will be instrumental in leading Socktober events for the entire school in October, to celebrate and raise awareness for World Mission Month. October is a time of giving and self-reflection, as those with a lot or a little, give what they can to help those in need. We reflect on what we have and practise gratitude and graciousness for what we have been blessed with. Angus W, Cambria A, Cody P, Eden A, Felicity C and William L all participated in the launch for Socktober 2024 last Tuesday, interacting with 500 other students and staff from the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese. These students demonstrated their capacity as strong leaders within our school community and they, alongside 50 other Year 10 students, will run Socktober festivities during the month of October, here at our school.

A reminder that despite some students leaving at the conclusion of the Yearly Examinations in Term 4, students should still be adhering to our uniform and grooming policy. Students that do not follow our expectations will be addressed accordingly, with disciplinary consequences occurring based on the offending item/s. Please refer to the uniform and grooming policy page at the front of the student diary, if you are unsure of our expectations and disciplinary consequences.

If students are absent, please notify us via Compass, phone or email. For students that are leaving to gain employment, entering apprenticeships or traineeships or are accessing other educational settings, attendance matters and may be the difference between gaining or losing these opportunities.

For those not returning in 2025; as you step out of high school and into a world full of possibilities, remember that this is just the beginning of an exciting journey. Embrace every challenge and opportunity that comes your way, and don’t be afraid to dream big! Each experience will shape you, so stay curious and open-minded. Trust in your abilities and surround yourself with those who inspire you. Good luck with your future endeavours- your potential is limitless, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll achieve!
