Heart to Heart

On Tuesday 17 September, the ‘Heart to Heart’ exhibition took place in the Drama room. This is the second time that ‘Heart to Heart’ has run here at St Joseph’s. The girls started working with Martha and Taya in Week 2 of this term with a blank canvas and over the 8-week period have created some wonderful pieces. The painting that the girls focused on was Vincent van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers.’
We have been very fortunate to be working alongside Upper Hunter Youth Services for the program. Taya supported the girls weekly by exploring various strategies to improve wellbeing. The program uses the power of creativity to make a positive impact on the lives of the girls. Through participation in carefully structured activities, the girls were given the opportunity to learn new skills and methods to improve their social and emotional wellbeing.
Martha our resident artist provided a sense of calm every week. St Joseph’s would like to thank Martha for sharing her gifts and her passion with us.
Tuesday mornings for the past eight weeks have been the highlight of my day. The girls shared morning tea where they chatted and discussed various topics. They did this by sharing delicious fruit and baked goods. A massive thank you to Andrea and the canteen ladies for their efforts every week.
The feedback from parents and carers has been very positive. It was lovely to see so many people in attendance to help the girls celebrate eight wonderful weeks. We look forward to the program returning in 2025.
