From the Principal

Thank You Year 12

This week is Year 12 students' final week at school, other than the HSC Examinations next term. I want to acknowledge them for being positive role models and proactive leaders in the school. I need to mention the work of our School Captains and SRC Chairpersons for their particular contribution: Mackenzie W, Charlise A, Luke M, Lachlan P, Emily W and Cecilia C. They have led the Year 12 cohort on several occasions with the Vinnies Sleepout, organising and running InterActs workshops, being the first of our volunteers for the Red Door Community Kitchen, and attending the launch of Project Compassion; these are just a few examples of events they have either attended and represented the school or actively participated in and organised. I appreciate your support and generously stepping up when we needed you on many occasions. God bless you all; we wish you well in preparing for your upcoming examinations and future endeavours.

VET Award

Last week, I received an email from Geraldine Blake, the head of Vocational Education at the Catholic Schools Office. She informed me that Reegan C had been successfully nominated for the CSO VET student of the year. Reegan was nominated by his Construction teacher Mrs Annalise Burgess. The final decision on the winner of this award will be announced early next year when the top HSC results are celebrated at a ceremony at the Catholic Schools Office. We celebrated Reegan’s nomination today and recognised his construction skills with the presentation of a certificate in front of his Year 12 cohort.

Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences and Years 7 - 10 Yearly Examinations

This is just a reminder that the Pupil Free Day, the first day back next term, and the first Wednesday evening after school Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences are being held. You should receive a Compass notification this week giving you access to book your conferences. The purpose of the Conferences at this time of the year is to provide students with individual advice on their preparation for the final examinations in Week 4 for Year 10 and Week 5 for Years 7 - 9. Please take advantage of these Conferences and assist your children with their examination preparation. Advice like this can reduce the stress of the examinations and help students achieve their best results.

Meanwhile, I hope our students and staff have a restful and safe holiday break and return to school recharged for Term 4.
