Each year, Trinity selects a boys’ team and a girls’ team to represent the College in the largest school basketball competition in Australia. The Gold Coast event welcomes over 400 schools from across all states and territories, competing across three age groups and three divisions.
This year, we were proud to have an U15 Boys Division 3 team and an U17 Girls Division 2 team representing Trinity. The members of these teams were:
| Girls | Boys |
| Ella McGrath | Charlie Henry |
| Emelia Harding | Ziggy Clift |
| Lily Wright | Hugo Menz |
| Lucy Hocking | Ethan Crisp |
| Lucy Kimball | Neto Ezekwe |
| Millie Thomas | Blake Distefano |
| Molly Collins | Xavier Bellerose |
| Phoebe Rowston | Ted Vesey |
| Portia Johnson | Taylor Wright |
Both teams played five pool games, finishing in 2nd and 3rd position in their pools heading into the Quarter Finals.
For the U15 Boys, Ethan Crisp led the entire competition in free throws and established himself as the most dominant big in the tournament. Strong performances were also delivered by Hugo Menz, Blake Di Stefano, Taylor Wright and Neto Ezekwe, each making significant contributions at different stages of the week.
In the girls’ competition, Molly Collins was a standout during the pool games, particularly in the early absence of Phoebe Rowston. Lily Wright and Lucy Hocking also played key roles in the team’s early success. With Phoebe returning and the team’s confidence growing, the finals proved to be the highlight of their week. After a narrow loss by just one point in the semi-final against a team they had previously been defeated by, the girls came together to secure a commanding 24-point win in the Bronze medal match against South Australia’s Encounter School. Lucy Hocking shone in the bronze medal match, scoring 17 points and making multiple crucial defensive plays.
The U15 Boys campaign saw an early win against fellow NSW school Avondale, but the semi-final and bronze medal match proved tough, and the boys finished just outside the medals. Nonetheless, their 4th place finish marked an impressive 7-place improvement on last year’s tournament.
From local competitions to state-level tournaments, 2025 was a defining year for basketball at Trinity Anglican College. The continued growth of the program, the professionalism of the coaches, and the dedication of the players all reflect the College’s strong sporting culture.
