Positive Behaviour for Learning

This year, Galilee is introducing the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework to strengthen our approach to student wellbeing and learning. PBL is an evidence-based, whole-school approach designed to support all students to thrive socially, emotionally and academically. It helps our school community build a positive, safe and supportive learning culture, grounded in our Catholic values and focused on helping every child flourish.

PBL is not a behaviour program, it is a whole-school framework that brings consistency, clarity and a shared language around behaviour expectations across classrooms, playgrounds, corridors and learning spaces. It emphasises teaching and reinforcing positive behaviours, rather than simply reacting when challenges arise. At its heart, PBL defines clear behavioural expectations that reflect our school values and teaches these behaviours explicitly so students understand what is expected in all settings. It supports staff to respond consistently and respectfully when behaviours do not meet expectations, while also recognising and reinforcing positive choices so students feel valued, supported and successful.

We are proud to have a dedicated PBL Team leading this work. Thank you to Harvey Bidmade, Alana McGuirke, Anna Petraca, Ricky Daly,  Amy Burns and Holly Evans for their commitment and leadership in guiding Galilee through this important journey. This year is our first year of the four year implementation cycle. We look forward to sharing updates, celebrating successes and providing ways parents and carers can support PBL at home.
