From the Foundation and 1/2 Classrooms

Welcome to all of our Foundation, Grade 1 and 2 families! We have had a wonderful start to our 2026 school year. It is lovely to see the students so enthusiastic to be back at school ready to learn, excited to see their friends and keen to settle into their new classes.

We have started the year with our whole school Start Up program which is dispersed in between core (English and Maths) learning sessions. During these sessions classes have established what we would like our classrooms to look, feel and sound like whilst creating our classrooms rules.

We have discussed our school values and what it can look like around our school if we are showing 'Respect', 'Inclusion', 'Responsibility' and 'Care'. We discussed situations where this can occur and how we can support each other to make our school a place where everyone feels safe and that they belong. 

We are also introducing and revisiting our Wellbeing programs, Respectful Relationships and Zones of Regulation. We are starting up the year by looking at people who can help us if we feel we need help or someone to speak to. Students will think of trusted adults that they can go to at school and home. 

Another important part of our Start Up program are our Marrung lessons. Classes will create their own Acknowledgement to Country. We will also be creating our Birthday calendars this year connected to the Eastern Kulin Seasons and look forward to sharing this with you.

Students have discussed the Acceptable use of Technology agreement that went home to families to be read together, signed and returned to school. This feeds into our e-Safety lessons that we will introduce throughout each term. These lessons ensure that all students are safe and responsible online and that their experiences online are positive.

A few important reminders:

• Our term newsletters have now gone home. This covers what we are teaching in the classroom this term, how you can support your child through Home Learning and important dates. If you have not received a copy please see your child's teacher.
• Our Home Learning program will commence in week 3. More information on this will be sent out.
• Our Welcome back BBQ and Open classrooms is on Tuesday 17th February from 4-6pm.
