Principal's Message

Good morning, Parents/Carers,

Staff are working hard behind the scenes this week to ensure a fantastic start to 2026.

Welcome Miss Thompson

We welcome Miss Jane Thompson to Werris Creek Public School who will be teaching our Yr 4/5/6 class.  

Students Return

All students from K-6 will return next Monday, 2nd February.  We look forward to welcoming everyone back for 2026 especially our newest students in kindergarten and their families. 

Year 6 Shirts

The Year 6 Shirts for 2026 have arrived and are available to collect from the school office. All shirts must be paid for in full before they are given out.  Payments can be made to the office.

Captain Inductions

Our School Captain Inductions will be held next Tuesday, 3rd February at 9:10am in the school hall.  We welcome all families to come and support our Captains, Vice Captains and Sports Captains as they are inducted and receive their badges for 2026.

Annual Swimming Carnival

Our Annual Swimming Carnival will be held next Thursday, 5th February.  All students turning 8yrs and older are eligible to compete for a spot in the Zone team.  Permission notes will be sent home next Monday on students return to school.

Opportunity Class Yr 5 and Selective High School Applications 

If you wish to apply for an Opportunity Class or Selective High School in 2027, Applications are now open.  The Application period is from Thursday 6 November 2025 to Friday 20 February 2026.  For more information, please go to the Education Department's Website: education.nsw.gov.au

Friday, 1st May testing will be.

Colour Run

We will be holding a Colour Run on Friday, 13th March.  Information will be sent home next week with fundraising opening on Monday, 9th February. 

P&C AGM

The P&C AGM will be held on Monday 9th at WCSC at 5:30pm in the Engine Room.  All positions are vacant and will be up for 

White Cross Dental

White Cross Dental will again be visiting our school on Wednesday, 18th February.  Forms to participate in this program will be sent home next week.

Questacon 

We will be receiving a visit from Questacon on Monday, 23rd February.  More information to come.

Quirindi Zone Swimming Carnival

The Quirindi Zone Swimming Carnival will be held on Tuesday, 24th February at Quirindi Aquatic Centre.  A back up date Wednesday, 25th February is in place if required.

NAPLAN

Naplan will be held from 11th March to 23rd March for Years 3 & 5.
