Sports News with Mr Flower

A massive congratulations to Max who did our school proud down in Sydney at the Polding Swimming Carnival. Max placed 5th in his heat nearing his personal best time! Great effort Max.🏊‍♂️

We have five senior students heading to Inverell on Friday to trial for the Diocesan Touch Football side. These students will go into mixed teams with students all across the Diocese to show off their talents to the Dio selectors.  We want to wish good luck and safe travels to Bejay, Hank, Faith, Sian, Ivy.🏈

Don’t forget that our annual Cross Country will be held next Tuesday at the Tenterfield Showgrounds. We love having spectators along to watch the event and cheer on our students. Please find a seat outside the show ring and ensure cars are parked outside the showgrounds for safety. We will walk the course around 9:45am with the first infant events starting around 10:15am. We will hand out our champion and runner up medallions at assembly in Week 2.  🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃

Please note: If you are taking your child home from the showgrounds they need to be signed off by their class teacher.

Could parents please Accept or Decline the Cross Country event in their parent compass app as soon as possible.

Athletic Carnival News                                                     New Carnival Date:  Friday 19th June

We are making some strategic changes for our Athletics Carnival this year.

This will only apply to students 8 years and above.

In previous years our children have completed their long distance events, 200m, 800, and 1500m, at Federation Park the day after our Athletics Carnival.

This year we will be running these events  on Thursday 14th May at Federation Park

Only students who have completed a nomination form to enter these events will travel to the park.  All other students will stay at school and continue classes as normal. Students competing will wear their sports uniform on this day.  Parents are welcome to come and watch as usual.  Time details will be given when we determine numbers from nomination forms.

Why the change? Primarily it is because THS have marked the lines for their carnival the day before, so it is ready for our use.

Last year it was expensive to remark and it was very time consuming.

All results will go towards the Athletics Carnival tally. Our whole school carnival will be held on Friday 19th June.

Nomination forms will be sent home early next week.
