Living the Joy of Easter
In our Catholic tradition, Easter is far more than a single day; it is a glorious season of fifty days stretching from the empty tomb to the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. While Lent was a time for quiet reflection, Easter is our season for filling up—filling our hearts with the "Alleluia" joy that comes from the victory of life and hope.
At school, each class is focusing on the Easter joy as a strength that helps us be kind and resilient. We are focusing on the power of a fresh start, reminding students that every day is a "mini-Easter" where we can leave mistakes behind and begin again. By encouraging the children to be "Easter People," we help them show their joy through welcoming smiles and helping hands, while also spotting signs of renewal in the world around us.
You can keep this spirit alive at home by lighting a candle at dinner to represent the Light of Christ and offering a short prayer of thanks for the day's highlights. We also invite the children to practice hidden kindness by doing helpful tasks at home without being asked, spreading peace and light just as the Risen Lord did for his friends. As we journey through these fifty days, may your homes be filled with the hope and light of the season.
"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." — Psalm 118:24
