Staffing Update
We would like to share a small number of staffing updates within the Junior School for the commencement of Term 2.
Year 6R
As communicated to Year 6R families prior to the break, Justin Reedy will be on paternity leave for the first month of Term 2. During this time, Maxine Moore will be teaching Year 6R.
Maxine is a qualified teacher who currently works within the Junior School and knows our students and community well. She has completed a thorough handover with Justin and will work closely with the Year 6 teaching team to ensure continuity of learning and wellbeing.
Justin is scheduled to return on Tuesday 19 May, and we wish him and his family all the very best during this special time. During this period, Maxine's EAL role will be supported by Sophie Wain.
Junior School Administration
We sincerely thank Jenny Brumley for her outstanding contribution in the Junior School Administration role. Jenny supported the Junior School in an interim capacity across Term 4, 2025 and Term 1, 2026, providing essential continuity and ensuring a smooth conclusion to 2025 and a strong, well‑supported start to the 2026 academic year, including my own transition into the role. We are very grateful for her professionalism and commitment and wish her every happiness as she moves into the next chapter.
We are delighted to welcome Julee Shiby, who has been permanently appointed to the Junior School Administration role and will commence on Monday 20 April. Julee brings extensive experience in school‑based administration, and we look forward to her supporting Junior School families as she settles into the role.
Teacher Aide Staffing
We are pleased to confirm the permanent appointment of Arabella Walsh as a Junior School Teacher Aide, following a period working in the role on a casual basis. We value the care, continuity and strong relationships Arabella brings to our students.
ANZAC Day
Prep to Year 12 students will commemorate ANZAC Day at a College assembly on Wednesday 22 April from 8:50am to 9:25am.
Junior and Senior School students are also encouraged to attend the ANZAC Day Service at Kalinga Park on Saturday 25 April, a long‑standing community event attended by the Clayfield community and surrounding suburbs for over 100 years.
Kalinga Park ANZAC Day Service:
- Date: Saturday 25 April
- Time: 6:45am for a 7:00am service
- Location: Kalinga Park
- Meeting Point: Corner of Park Avenue and Kalinga Street
Students are asked to meet Mr Damien Marshall and Mrs Natasha Podoliak from 6:45am and to wear full Summer formal uniform (including hat) to represent the College with pride.
Junior School Interhouse Cross Country
Our Junior School Interhouse Cross Country Carnival will take place on Wednesday 29 April at Shaw Park from 9:30am to 11:30am. All students from Year 2 to Year 6 will participate in this event.
This notice is to flag the date, approximate event timing and key parent‑relevant information, as the carnival falls shortly after the holiday break. Students will attend school as usual in their sports uniform and will return to school to complete the remainder of the school day.
Parents and caregivers are warmly invited to attend and cheer on the children. Further event‑specific details, including arrival procedures, transport and spectator information, will be shared directly with families in a separate communication.
Uniform Reminder
Throughout Term 2, we will transition to the Winter Uniform. The timing of this change will be guided by weather conditions and communicated through The Collective. A one‑week transition period will apply, during which students may wear either the Summer or Winter Uniform.
Winter Uniform
Pre‑Prep:
- The College tracksuit may be worn over the Pre‑Prep uniform.
Prep to Year 6:
- College navy knee‑length socks or navy stockings may be worn with the formal uniform.
- Only socks and stockings purchased through the Uniform Shop are acceptable.
- Year 6 students wearing long trousers must wear College navy socks.
- The College jumper or vest may be worn with the formal uniform.
- The College tracksuit may be worn on HPE days only.
Thank you for your support in ensuring students are dressed appropriately as we move into the cooler months.
After School Club
Arrangements for Junior School After School Club will continue in Term 2 as communicated and in place during Term 1. Families are asked to refer to the information provided earlier in the year regarding registration (link below), supervision and pick‑up procedures.
Please note that After School Club will not operate on the final day of Term 2, Thursd 18 June, with students dismissed at the normal end‑of‑day time.
Learning, Wellbeing and Communication
As outlined in our Welcome to 2026 communication, classroom teachers remain the first point of contact for day‑to‑day learning or pastoral matters. Families are encouraged to access Parent Lounge and review Learning ePortfolios as updates are shared later in the term.

The following document contains all external activities that will be available for students to participate in Term 2 2026. Please contact the provider directly for bookings and information.

1:1 Device Pilot
Years 3 and 5
As communicated to Year 3 and Year 5 families, students in these year levels will begin using College‑provided iPads as part of a carefully planned 1:1 device pilot. This reflects parent feedback gathered through the MMG Survey (2024) and ILT Parent Sessions (2025) and will support ongoing evaluation of school‑managed devices.
Alongside this work, we remain committed to the effective and thoughtful integration of technology into learning, with a clear focus on quality rather than quantity. Our aim is to ensure that technology enhances learning outcomes where it adds value, while maintaining appropriate balance across the school day. We are working intentionally to support students to become capable, balanced and ethical users of technology, developing the skills and judgement they need to engage responsibly and confidently in an increasingly digital world.
The Junior School team is always available to assist should you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to a positive and productive Term 2.
Warm regards
Mr Damien Marshall
Director of Junior School
