1/2 News

Hello awesome 1/2 parents and carers!
Congratulations to you and your kids on a wonderful first term in Grade 1/2. We’ve had a great start to the year, with lots of learning experiences for our students.
Over the past couple of weeks, we have demonstrated our new skills in addition and subtraction, our recount writing and our personal descriptions. This week alone, we’ve also celebrated our Cultural Week, learning about and celebrating all things Venezuela.
Reminders
Term 2 starts back on the 20th April. Don’t forget to change your readers for the holidays! Grade 1/2s are encouraged to continue developing their independence with reader change over.
English Classroom News
Our students have been busy becoming talented authors, creating a variety of recount pieces. From drafting their ideas to editing and proudly publishing their work, it has been wonderful to watch their confidence and creativity grow.
In Mathematics, students have been exploring the world of numbers, developing their understanding of addition and subtraction through hands-on and engaging activities. They have also been curious investigators, collecting data to learn about their peers interests, turning these into pictographs and bar graphs.
Spanish Classroom News
In Spanish, we have continued working on our writing. In Week 9, we were able to write a real letter to our friend in Chile. We also practiced answering questions in Spanish through pretend play at the airport, we played as international police officers and travelers using our passports. It was a lot of fun!
In Spanish Maths we began working on shapes and became chefs of our own pizzas using geometric forms, it was delicious!
