End of Term 1 Celebrations
Hello Foundation Families! We in Foundation would like to take a moment to celebrate the huge milestone that is finishing the first term of primary school. We are beyond proud and impressed with all of our amazing students. They have truly climbed mountains this term, from making new friends and learning new routines, to beginning to read and write. Well done, Foundation students, we think you are incredible and we hope you have a restful break.
Literacy
This term the Foundation students have learned their stage 1 letters and most of their stage 2 letters. They have begun blending and reading, as well as writing letters, words, and even sentences! Their recount writing has been a resounding success and as their teachers we are continually blown away. Well done Preps!
Numeracy
What a fantastic start to our numeracy journey. Foundation students have been working on their numbers to 20, and demonstrating their proficiency with concrete materials, written numbers, and games. They have been practicing their Facts on Fuego each day and gaining confidence with every passing week.
Spanish
We have been learning the first level of letters in Spanish. We have also been working on numbers, and foundational vocabulary. We are creating our first sentences, identifying what elements do sentences have and how to use them. We are experimenting how to express our ideas, and getting more confident each day!
Cultural Week
We have reached the end of our first school term! During Cultural Week, we learned about Venezuela. Our Prep students explored the food, music, and animals of this country. We also learned about the connection between the Tooth Fairy and “Raton Pérez.”
We practiced and danced salsa with our classmates, and we also sang well-known songs from the country. We created beautiful flower crowns for our presentation, and for the first time, we cooked delicious arepas. We practiced vocabulary related to ingredients, and each student had the opportunity to make their own arepas!
Last week, we held our celebration where we showcased Latin American and Hispanic culture.
Term 2
- Our Term 2 classrooms are ready and we will begin Term 2 in them while our old classrooms have a makeover. One the makeover is complete, we will move back in.
- We would like to thank our wonderful parent helpers and hope to work with you again in Term 2. Thank you, we appreciate you.
- Our Fire Safety incursions will begin early in Term 2, with the first one happening on Tuesday, April the 28th, and the second one happening on Tuesday the 5th of March.
As we look ahead to Term 2, we would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday break, and we look forward to the next stage of the Foundation learning journey.
