Use of YouTube and Copyrighted Videos - Information for Parents and Carers

At our school, teachers sometimes use short videos to support learning. Many of these videos are hosted on YouTube and other online platforms.

Under Australian copyright law, teachers are allowed to stream videos in class for educational purposes. This means we can show videos directly to students during lessons as part of teaching and learning.

However, copyright rules mean that schools cannot download videos or upload copies of copyrighted material to learning platforms such as Google Classroom or other apps where students could access and copy the files. Because of this, teachers will now sometimes share a link to a video (often on Youtube) rather than uploading the video itself.

In addition, students are not able to access YouTube on their school-managed devices due to filtering and safety settings. This helps ensure students are using the internet safely while at school.  For this reason, some video links may need to be viewed at home using a family device. We ask that students access these videos with the support and supervision of a parent or carer.

Thank you for supporting us in following copyright requirements while still providing engaging learning resources for students.

Competing in the Year 5/6 girls event, Ellie finished in first place with an incredible time of 12 minutes and 2 seconds. Even more impressively, Ellie won by a remarkable 5 minute margin in a field of 20 competitors. An amazing effort that highlights both her determination and skill. We are very proud of Ellie for representing Bell so brilliantly and celebrating such a fantastic result. Well done, Ellie!

Nude Food is Back in Term 2!!!

Next Term, students will once again be able to earn sustainability points for their house by bringing Nude Food on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. In an effort to reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill, students are encouraged to avoid bringing plastic wrappers and single use packaging to school in their lunchboxes. For more information and tips on how to pack 'nude' lunches, please see the fact sheets below.

Grade 5 + 6 Art News

The Grade 5 and 6 students spent the term illustrating Australian animals inspired by the artist Marini Ferlazzo.  They learnt the Woiwurrung words for Australian animals and detailed the animal using native plants to create implied texture of fur and feathers. Grade 3 + 4 Art News

Grade 3 and 4 students spent the term designing and making a 3D room. To start, they drew a 3D room and experimented with perspective to decide what details and features would go into their room. Then they constructed a 3D room out of paper and used decorative paper and collage to create wallpaper, mirrors, windows and shelves for their walls. They used mixed media to craft their furniture and extra room features. Look closely at the level of detail!
