Safety Squad

Dear Parents,

In Week One, our Year 3 and 4 classes had a visit from RACV Education Officers to highlight both safety in the home and on the roads. I have included a really valuable information sheet that highlights the content shared and some of the little known laws about the use of E-scooters that we should all be aware of. The following report by Clara and Roya provides some great student perspectives.

Year 4 Student Report

OUR RACV VISIT

On Tuesday, the Year 3 and 4’s had an incursion with two ladies from Banyule Council, teaching us how to be safe in our community and the laws of transportation. In the incursion we learnt how to be safe using e-scooters and bicycles and the fines that you get when you break the law. While learning about safety, we also played games to demonstrate how it can be hard to focus while using transportation.

The students that participated in the incursion had a bunch of fun while learning about what the laws are for e-scooters and bicycles, and the consequences when you break them. Students also participated in games like, when the child sits at the front pretending to ride a bike while sorting cards into black and red, while kids come up and hold cards that the child has to read and is surrounded by kids asking questions for the child to answer. This is a game demonstrating how it can be hard to focus while riding something.
