Bullying No Way

The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence has a new name – Bullying No Way: National week of action. The theme for 2025 is ‘Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up.’, which supports the MACS 2030 vision that ‘every student is inspired and enabled to flourish and enrich the world’. Our Catholic communities are enriched when we respect everyone’s differences and stand up to unkindness. Belonging means that we all have a role to play in preventing bullying. Mazenod College is a place where everyone is empowered to speak up and create a safe space, everyone feels supported and respected, and their voices are heard and valued.

Victorian Bands League State Solo and Ensemble Championships

51 Mazenod musicians recently represented the College at the Victorian Bands League State Solo and Ensemble Championships on Saturday 26 July, competing across nine sections and delivering an outstanding showing.

Our students achieved podium finishes in several categories including lower brass, drum kit, and ensemble sections. All solo performances were accompanied by old boy Filip Fulco (MOC2021), now an accomplished pianist, in a great full-circle moment for our music community.

The event also saw a familiar face crowned Open Bb Cornet Champion and Champion of Champions for 2025 — Mr George Melitsis, who has now claimed the prestigious title three times in four years.

Congratulations to all involved, both on stage and behind the scenes!

Languages Week

Next week we celebrate the rich tapestry of languages and cultures during our much-awaited Languages Week! The College comes alive with vibrant activities and engaging events that highlighted the diversity of languages spoken by our students and their families. Thank you to the Languages Faculty and parents and families who are involved in the festivities, sharing their native languages and cultural heritage with our students.

Dante Alighieri Poetry Recital Competition

Congratulations to Yibo Iaskiv (Year 9), who achieved second place in the finals of the prestigious Dante Alighieri Poetry Recital Competition, held at the University of Melbourne on 24 July. This is a remarkable accomplishment and a credit to his dedication to Italian language and culture.

Science Week

At Mazenod College, Science Week is a vibrant celebration of discovery and innovation. Students immerse themselves in hands-on experiments, interactive workshops, showcasing their passion for science. The week features exciting competitions, science fairs, that inspire curiosity and critical thinking. This annual event takes place between the 9th-15th of August fostering a sense of community and enthusiasm for learning.

Victorian Volleyball State Schools Cup

The Victorian Volleyball State Schools Cup is a highlight of our school's sporting calendar, bringing together students from several year levels to display their skills on the court. With determination and dedication, our teams have been practicing rigorously, honing their techniques, and strategising to be at their best during the tournament.

Beyond the competition, the Volleyball provides an opportunity for our school community to come together, cheer on our teams, and celebrate the spirit of friendly rivalry. Students, teachers, and parents alike unite to support our players and share in the excitement of the matches. May this event inspire our students to embrace the values of teamwork, resilience, and fair play that extend far beyond the court and into all aspects of their lives. Congratulations to all coaches and players.
